Tory leader Michael Howard has shocked Scots parents who lost children in the Dunblane massacre,by claiming the ban on handguns was "shortsighted and a mistake".He claimed that children should be taught to use guns responsibly and a total ban on guns would be a step too far..a Tory party spokesman Patrick Mercer echoed Howard's opinion by saying "It is so much sensible in my view to train children to handle and have a respect for weapons, than simply to ban them"...
The claim has infuriated a Glasgow family who lost their 2 year old son Andrew Morton to an air rifle..they confronted Howard at his party conference and said "he responded by laughing at our questions..."
The Dunblane massacre in 1996 in which Thomas Hamilton shot dead 16 children and their teacher, lead to a total ban on handguns.Anne Pearston who was part of the Snowdrop campaign for a ban on guns said "Its not even 10 years and the Tories are thinking of changing the law! If they have that as a manifesto pledge,it will be a vote loser.We haven't gone away"....
Well if children are taught to use guns responsibley, they'll be able to teach themselves how to use them irresponsibley based on what they learned whilst been taught how to use guns responsibley. It's a stupid idea and I don't agree with it. Guns should only be allowed for use in the army and for killing animals with.
That I'll agree with. Here in Texas, we can carry concealed guns, but I really don't see the point of it. I mean, it's really not so dangerous here that we need to be easily allowed to have guns. I would agreed that only army people and hunters need them. And maybe police officers also, (hopefully and thankfully I don't think they're used often at all) but just in case of anything. Other than that, I don't see why regular citizens, and especially children need to have them.
